MG Paul E. Vallely, US Army (Ret.) along with Professor Ray Tanter, both representing the US based Iran Policy Committee (IPC), were joined by many other high level officials and dignitaries from the United States and the European Union at the NCRI Rally held at the Paris Exposition Center outside of Paris in late June. This was the latest in a long line of annual NCRI rallies; reported in the past by people like Daniel Pipes, and this year by Saad al-Massoudi of Al Arabiya.
Tens of thousands of Iranians and their supporters from all over Europe gathered and met to support regime change in Iran and to established democracy and freedom in that country. Among them was the new President – Elect; Maryam Rajavi.
Mme. Maryam Rajavi inspired all present to support the long overdue delisting of the MEK (Mujahedeen-e-Khalq) as a terrorist organization by the US State Department. The European Union and the United Kingdom have already taken this critical step toward Iran’s future. The delisting has been supported by the IPC during its entire existence and provides some detail on delisting by other goverments:
Many political and retired military officers from Europe and the US attended including: Amb. John Bolton, Linda Chavez, Mayor Rudi Giuliani, Senator Robert Torricelli, Judge Michael Mukasey, Gen. George Casey, Gen. James Conway, Governor Bill Richardson, Gen. David Philips, Col. Wesley Martin, Col. Leo McCloskey, Columnist Clarence Page, and Governor Ed Rendell. Delegations from France, Jordan, Columbia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Canada also attended; many participating in presentations supporting the Iranian Opposition Groups.
A key moment came when a United Nations official that recently resigned revealed that a cover up had occurred in Iraq. Deception and fraud at the highest levels of the UN in Baghdad, Iraq, and New York were revealed regarding the horrific conditions of the MEK being held at Camp Ashraf and those recently moved to Camp Liberty.
Photos and reports released by UN officials were clearly falsified to deceive people about the actual condition of the unarmed and innocent people isolated ‘gulag-style’ by Senior Iraqi officials. In fact, the Senior Iraqi Colonel, Sadiq Mohammad Kazim was placed in charge of the camp was the same person responsible for the massacre of 36 innocent Iranian MEK members at Ashraf. He was recently denied entry to the European Parliament earlier in June.
“Despite calls from the U.S. Congress, the European Union, and the United Nations, there has been no independent inquiry into the incident. “No one has been held accountable”…for the massacre at Ashraf. “… a pattern of violence and intimidation against them at the hands of the Shiite officials of the Al-Maliki government…”
All this is certainly a travesty – one that defies credulity and humanitarian justice.
An investigation of this persecution and violation of human rights must be undertaken immediately, at the highest levels of justice. IPC representatives are available to elaborate further on this outrage and are willing to divulge the names of those responsible. This investigation should occur in conjunction with the immediate delisting of the MEK in the USA.
Recently, the Federal Appeals Court of Washington DC ordered the Secretary of State to either deny or grant a petition from the MEK to be delisted not later than four months from the June 1, 2012 date of the ruling. If Secretary Clinton fails to take action within that period, the Court said that the MEK petition for setting aside the terrorist designation will be granted.
Mrs. Rajavi urged the major powers to stop appeasing Tehran and start supporting the opposition groups.
