UPDATE – Syria – The story you are not being told

UPDATE – The following video just came from the region. The video is from May 25, 2012 – Purporting to show that the al-Assad regime is killing and maiming children in the town of al-Houle in the Homs Governancy.

WARNING – EXTREMELY GRAPHIC

By Scott W. Winchell - The war in Syria rages on, and the specter of chemical and other WMD use looms. Syria has quite the supply, and quite the technological superiority, but it does not have the numbers, nor the heart of the people.

Here at SUA, we have a singular asset, a source of truth, a conduit of information few are privy too. SUA principles are in the region now, at the apex of the real story inside Syria.

Haitham Qdemati - Leader of the SLA, leaving Westminster on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 after being received by the House of Lords.

There are 18 to 20 million Sunnis in Syria, and by and large, all of them are supporting the ouster of  al-Assad. A large majority despise  Hezbollah, Iran, and the Shiite Alawites.

Despite what the world media and several governments assert, this is not an Egypt type “Arab Spring”, and the these are not terrorists, nor terrorist sympathizers; and most assuredly, they are not aligned as many claim.

These very modern and western leaning peoples just want to be who they always were, but were never allowed to be; a peaceful productive western style democracy. A proud nationalistic population of well-educated entrepreneurs, not hell bent on religious ideology.

The vacuum of power is not intended to be filled the same as is emerging elsewhere; lessons have been observed and learned. They wish for peace and the ability to be a nation that is willing and able to finally show the world it is a viable, vibrant, economic engine for Middle East peace, aligned with a free Lebanon, and at peace even with Israel.

They openly support their Christian and Druze brothers (See exclusive SUA video here.) and are led by a very nationalistic zeal, not a religious one, certainly not in alignment with al-Qaeda.

Iran continues to prop up Syrian Dictator al-Assad, and the lethality of his armaments is immense. However, the freedom fighters appear to be very resilient, and quite inventive. They are also in it for the long haul!

Additionally, they are also most tech-savvy. Seen below; is a screen shot of a Google map created by supporters of the freedom fighters for the viewer to see the situation for themselves.

Go to this link and you can see one facet of the events as they are unfolding. See the brutality of the regime’s tactics.

Without the ammunition they need, the freedom fighters are employing tactics that many would call terrorist tactics. However, terrorism is quite different from these freedom fighters who only wish to over-throw a corrupt and savage regime that has committed atrocities on a scale that should have them standing in front of a panel of judges at the World Court in the Hague for Crimes against Humanity.

These freedom fighters are not terrorists, even though they may occasionally employ such tactics. Why? Terrorism is defined by its goals, not its tactics. The goal of terrorism is to create mass casualties, at a symbolic site, causing mass fear, monopolizing all media, and is geared to inflict economic ruin.

In the case of the vastly larger Sunni population in Syria, its tactics are always aimed at one point, the regime’s sources of power, solely. The only civilians in the sights of a rifle-scope, are in the arms of the regime. This regime is a terrorist cabal, and we all know it.

Car bombs have been exploded, IEDs have been employed, but when all you have to fight the highly superior forces of a dictator are the land mines it plants to kill refugees at borders, who is the real terrorist?

More to come. We shall address the many different factions, and who is really fighting for whom. The spill over into Lebanon and Turkey is part of the next installment.
