Frank Miele – Here's why I haven't forgotten Benghazi

Editor’s Note – Frequently, the Managing Editor at the Daily Interlake, Frank Miele has submitted and published some very concise and insightful editorials for his local paper in Northwest Montana, the area that SUA’s chairman, MG Paul E. Vallely calls home.

Because of that connection, we here at SUA take special interest in that great publication, and though it is written more for the local area, it is often very pertinent to the rest of America.Daily Interlake

He wrote a summary for his readers that many of you might appreciate on Jerry Corsi’s four-part series posted here on SUA and originally at WND, World Net Daily. (Interlake article summarizes first three parts.)

Please read on and see what people in ‘fly over’ country-north have to say, you will be thankful that they mirror the heartland of America and very likely he shares your thoughts.

Here’s why I haven’t forgotten Benghazi

By FRANK MIELE – Daily Interlake

I haven’t forgotten Benghazi. Have you?

FRANK MIELE - Managing Editor, Daily Interlake, Montana
FRANK MIELE – Managing Editor, Daily Interlake, Montana

Yeah, I know there is lots of pressure on you to just pretend it never happened, or that it was an unfortunate but unavoidable incident that just so happened to result in the death of four Americans, including the ambassador to Libya.

I also know that the House Intelligence Committee put out a unanimous report in November that “found no evidence” of an intelligence failure, nor of any failure to mount a rescue effort, nor of any coverup of said illusory failures.

I know that the House Select Committee on Benghazi was established in May 2014, and has done virtually nothing in the subsequent nine months other than holding a hearing on how security has been improved at embassies worldwide. And, yep, I know that’s putting the cart before the horse, and that it is increasingly unlikely that the committee will ever actually investigate the aromatic but illusory dead horse being dragged behind.

But I also know that the massacre at Benghazi is not going away. I know that no matter how inconvenient, unpleasant or downright threatening the truth is, it will eventually come out, thanks to patriotic Americans who are willing to dodge unfriendly fire from the U.S. media and political hacks in order to honor the principle that you never leave a fellow soldier behind.

The mutilated, tortured body of Ambassador Chris Stevens came home from Benghazi, but until his story is told, the ghosts of Stevens and the three other Americans killed that night of Sept. 11, 2012, should haunt you.

Retired MG Paul E. Vallely addresses attendees at the press conference.
Retired MG Paul E. Vallely addresses attendees at the press conference.

They do haunt retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely and his fellow members of the independent Citizens Commission on Benghazi, which has been working for more than a year and a half to find out just what happened  before, during and after the assault on the U.S. compound in Benghazi.

Vallely, who has been a resident of Bigfork, Montana, for many years, founded the commission, along with Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney and four-star Adm. James Lyons.

The 17-member panel includes three former CIA officers, a Navy SEAL, a former member of U.S. Army special forces, a former deputy undersecretary of defense, two representatives of the media, two former congressmen and other high-ranking military figures.

In the past week, their work has been highlighted by Jerome Corsi, senior reporter at World Net Daily, in a series of stories that describe a disturbing pattern of deceit, abuse and morally obtuse behavior by American policy makers.

Story No. 1: “Admirals, Generals, Intel: Benghazi Inquest Compromised.” Starting with the mystery of the emasculation of the House Select Committee, Corsi asks members of the Citizens Commission on Benghazi whether they believe the investigation led by Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., has been compromised.

“Vallely told WND (World Net Daily) that he believes Gowdy ‘has received much pressure not to get to the truth, and we are now coming to the conclusion that there is no longer any intention in Washington, by the leadership of both the Democratic and Republican Parties, to get to the truth.”

ghosts-of-benghaziVallely went on to say that “an honest investigation into Benghazi would prove treasonous acts at the very top of the White House and the State Department, and a continuing cover-up in Congress that now involves the Republican leadership and especially House Speaker John Boehner.”

Why exactly such a cover-up would take place is the underlying theme of the three articles by Corsi. In the Citizens Commission’s interim report issued last April, it was alleged that the United States in 2011 had been supplying weapons and military support to al-Qaida-linked rebels in Libya.

Those allegations have been circulated in conservative circles for months, but because of the lack of interest by the mainstream media in this explosive story, most Americans are blissfully unaware of it.

For those of you who are new to the premise, Corsi spells it out this way:

“The purpose of the mission in Benghazi appears to have involved a scheme managed by Stevens, first to supply weapons to al-Qaida-related groups and others who sought to overthrow Moammar Gadhafi and later to Syrian rebels. Republican leaders are covering up the White House’s offenses, some commission members believe, because the White House made them aware of the gun-running and they gave assent to it.”

Wow, that’s big news, right? Worthy of a full-scale congressional investigation, right? Deserving of front-page coverage in the New York Times, right?

Nah! “What difference does it make?” as Hillary Clinton said about finding out who really killed Ambassador Stevens, and why.

Story No. 2: “Generals Conclude Obama Backed Al-Qaida.” Further details about the alleged gun-running scheme are provided by former CIA officer Clare Lopez.

“In early 2011, before Gadhafi was deposed, Christopher Stevens came to Benghazi in a cargo ship, and his title at the time was envoy to the Libyan rebels, which basically means Christopher Stevens was America’s first envoy to al-Qaida,” she told Corsi. “At that time, Stevens was facilitating the delivery of weapons to the al-Qaida-related militia in Libya.”

That’s because, as part of President Obama’s strategy of “leading from behind,” the United States was working with extremist Islamic rebels to overthrow the Gadhafi regime in Libya. Another way to think of “leading from behind” is “keeping your hands clean” because obviously the United States didn’t want to take the lead in overthrowing an Arab government at that time.

The United States, remember, was positioning itself as a friend of the Arab Spring rebellions, up to and including supporting the rise to power in Egypt of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the Islamic equivalent of the worldwide communist party.

So Stevens was the point man for these back-door operations, which even to this day have not been addressed by any official public investigation, whether in Congress or elsewhere.

Corsi also spoke to Kevin Shipp, a former CIA counterintelligence expert in the Reagan era, who agreed with Lopez that both the Obama White House and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are desperate to classify the Benghazi attack as an act of random violence in order to “suppress from the public” the true story.

“The shocking part, maybe even a violation of international law that the Obama administration has been terrified to have fully revealed, is that Stevens as part of his duties as a State Department employee was assisting in the shipment of arms first into Libya for the al-Qaida-affiliated militia, with the weapons shipped subsequently out of Libya into Syria for use by the al-Qaida-affiliated rebels fighting Assad,” Shipp said.

“Very possibly, these gun-running activities could be looked at even as treasonable offenses,” he concluded.

Story No. 3: “Admiral: U.S. Could Have Ousted Gadhafi Peacefully.” This article gets to the very heart of the foreign-policy bungling by the Obama administration that eventually led to the death of Ambassador Stevens.

Remember, back in 2011, the United States was trying to curry favor with Islamic extremists who were toppling regime after regime in the Middle East, and thus with the support of not just president Obama but also senior Republican Sen. John McCain and many others in D.C., the United States was providing weapons and logistical support to the Libyan rebels, who were a thinly disguised variation of al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Gadhafi, of course, was the former bad boy of the Middle East, who had funded terrorism and sought nuclear weapons up until the time his palace was bombed by the U.S. Air Force under the orders of President Reagan.

That had kept him quiet for many years, and the invasion of Iraq in 2003, had turned him into an ally of the United States who was set only on maintaining his own power base. By that time, he had destroyed his own weapons of mass destruction and was providing covert assistance to the U.S. in tracking al-Qaida.

In other words, it would have made sense from a policy point of view to keep Gadhafi in power if at all possible, and if not, to at least give him and his family safe passage out of the country. That’s what you do for allies, even dirty ones.

And that’s what Gadhafi thought we were going to do for him.

According to the Citizens Commission’s interim report, Gadhafi had “expressed his willingness to abdicate shortly after the beginning of the 2011 Libyan revolt, but the U.S. ignored his calls for a truce, which led to extensive loss of life…, chaos, and detrimental outcomes for U.S. national security objectives across the region.”

Retired Rear Adm. Chuck Kubic told reporter Corsi that he was trying to arrange a 72-hour truce that would allow Gadhafi and allied forces to “negotiate a cease-fire” in order to “get Gadhafi’s abdication and his subsequent either internal or external exile.” Although Gadhafi was ready to step down, the Obama administration showed no interest in accepting the offer.

“I found it hard to understand that we have a Nobel Peace Prize winner in the White House and President Obama was not willing to give peace a chance in Libya for 72 hours,” Kubic told Corsi.

“I don’t know if the decision came from the White House or from Hillary Clinton at the State Department,” he said, “but the advice for me from AFRICOM (U.S. military headquarters for African operations) was basically just leave everything alone, to simply stand down.”

A week later, on March 29, 2011, “President Obama signed the finding authorizing the United States to arm the rebels,” Kubic said, leading the way to the arms-running operation headed by Chris Stevens, which resulted ultimately in the brutal assassinations of both Gadhafi and Stevens

These are the facts, as they have been rooted out by private citizens — working in opposition to a government-led cover-up that has received de facto support from the media and both major political parties. I encourage you to read the full stories by Jerome Corsi at World Net Daily, and judge them based not on your own political leanings but on your honor as an American citizen.

Then call or write to your representatives in Congress and demand answers, demand accountability, demand public hearings.

I have not forgotten Benghazi. How could you?

Hillary Clinton – NSA, No Need, I have My Own

By Denise Simon, SUA Associate Editor

She is lining up the sun, the moon, and the stars, especially the progressive stars to make her run. Why exactly? Power, pure and simple.

The cross-posted article below is a very thorough, and in our opinion, a very accurate depiction of the Hillary Clinton machine and personna.  However, there is much more you need to know.

"Honorable'" really?
“Honorable'” really?

Hillary Clinton has a spy unit and it was created a few years ago. What kind of spy unit? Well it is called American Bridge, and it is an intelligence army, and it is already spying on all of her opposition, no matter the affiliation.

The group has been transformed from an ordinary political action committee into the political version of the NSA, its staffers working out of a room littered with computer monitors that will flash the latest privacy invasion for dissemination.

All of this in the name of electing Hillary Clinton president—where Clinton would be in charge of the IRS, the NSA, the FBI, and the CIA.

Read this continuing excerpt from American Spectator as well (Excerpts are not in actual order, the above quote lies deeper in the article and follows this one below.):

American Bridge PAC spent last week spying on the private conversations of attendees at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). The group also plans to spy on the private lives of GOP delegates to the 2016 Republican National Convention wherever the convention is located.

Politico reports ABPAC has issued the following threat if the GOP selects Las Vegas as its host city. American Bridge has set up this website at “SinCityGOP” and announces (bold print supplied):

While the Republican Party debates where to hold the Republican National Convention in 2016, American Bridge is preparing our team of researchers and trackers to capture the action no matter what city they choose.

In making their selection, Republicans would do well to remember that Las Vegas is already the city with the most cameras per capita of anywhere on the planet. What’s another two or three dozen American Bridge trackers added to the mix?

And if the RNC does choose Las Vegas, this is the site for all the action. What happens in Vegas… will go right here.

American Bridge was founded by Clinton ally David Brock and is funded by longtime Clinton supporter and billionaire George Soros. American Bridge PAC president Brad Woodhouse boasted that the group’s “trackers” at CPAC had been “in the hallways capturing conversations and that kind of thing.” Meaning? Meaning Hillary’s American Bridge is about invading privacy. CPAC’s today, someone else’s tomorrow. Yours.

The news of “capturing” private conversations at CPAC follows on the heels of multiple congressional investigations into the Obama-run IRS, which has been using the government to ask Tea Party groups about the contents of their members’ prayers, what books they read, and the contents of private phone calls and media interviews. A second controversy has erupted over the NSA collection of “metadata”—including the phone numbers of all Americans.

The news of Clinton’s high tech spies peering into private conversations at CPAC and set to peer into the private lives of GOP delegates comes as the privacy of American citizens has erupted as a major political issue in both the 2014 and 2016 campaigns.” (Read more here at American Spectator.)

…Mrs. Clinton’s past is irrelevant? Hardly.

American Bridge—aka Hillary’s NSA—is gambling that spying on the private lives of others in pursuit of Hillary’s campaign is no big deal.

Mistake.

Big mistake.

Here’s What We Know About Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Campaign

THE POLITICO’s Mike Allen has given us inside look at the nascent Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. Allen’s piece is the latest in a long line of stories explaining how formidable the 2016 operation will be, and assuring us that Hillary has learned from her disastrous failure in 2008. Here are five things we’ve learned about the campaign thus far:

1. Hillary loves power even more than she loves money

Allen reports that Clinton “never really hesitated” in deciding to run for president again. The likelihood that she will run reportedly went from 98 percent to 100 percent late last year.

The decision is somewhat puzzling, given Hillary’s well-document obsession with making money, and “getting houses.” She has made millions on the public speaking circuit since quitting her job at the State Department, and has even scoffed at public university students who have protested the use of taxpayer funds to pay her exorbitant speaking fees. (After all, she already offers universities a special discounted rate of $300,000.)

Being the leader of the free world, on the other hand, only pays a meager $400,000 per year. Hillary’s decision to forgo millions in future speaking fees is a curious one, which can only be explained by an even greater obsession with power and self-aggrandizement.

2. So many white bros

The Daily Beast’s Tim Mak notes that some Democrats are beginning to express concern about the conspicuous male whiteness of Hillary’s campaign. Pretty much everyone she has hired for a top role is a white dude:

One operative quipped that the top levels of the campaign are in danger of looking like “white dudefest 2016.”

“If Hillary doesn’t begin hiring well-respected African-American or Hispanic political aides in top positions,” said a senior African American Congressional aide, “I would imagine that people will really start to wonder if she is serious about covering her left flank. If that is the case they will look for a candidate who is eager to demonstrate that senior level inclusiveness is a high priority.”

Allen’s report notes that the campaign is already beginning to discuss potential running mates, and at the moment, two white dudes—Sens. Michael Bennet (D., Colo.) and Tim Kaine (D., Va.)—are “dominating the early speculation.”

3. Hillary is obsessed with Hillary, and after decades in politics, still has thin skin

Allen reports that Hillary 2016 is determined to have a better relationship with the reporters, people she has previously described as having “big egos and no brains.” At the very least, Allen writes, she wants “to have a ‘good cop’ role to help her get off on a better foot with the journalists who will help shape her image.”

That may be easier said than done, given how obsessed Hillary seems to be with reading (and nitpicking) stories about herself:

Advisers know that Clinton doesn’t like or trust the press – and feels that it’s mutual. She remains a voracious consumer of news about herself, occasionally complaining about an article’s tone or omissions.

One of the few top campaign positions yet to be filled is that of communications director. Potential hires include Karen Finney, whose MSNBC show “Disrupt” was cancelled last year.

4. Hillary possesses an “instinctive insularity,” according to dozens of close aides who won’t stop speaking to the press anonymously

One of the reasons why Team Clinton wants to hire a media-friendly liaison is to serve as “a counterweight to the instinctive insularity of Hillaryland.” This information was relayed to Allen via a number of anonymous aides close to Hillary who have spoken to a number of different reporters over the past several weeks about how awesome Hillary 2016 is going to be.

5. Why she’s running

Actually, the rationale for Hillary’s campaign remains unclear, beyond the fact that she became a grandmother last year, and that made her think a lot about the future. According to Allen, now that a campaign architecture is in place, Team Hillary finally get to work “developing her message,” whatever that may be.

Obama's Unexplainable Stance on Iran – Threads Connect

Obama’s Swaps Israel for Iran

Connecting Events Across the Globe that Prove Iran is a Grave Threat to America

By Scott W. Winchell and Denise Simon, SUA Staff

Several stories in the news of late are seemingly unrelated but when we take a closer view, one thread connects them, Iran. Now ask yourself, is Iran a threat to America and how is Obama handling that threat?obama-iran

Let us list a few events for you and then try to show the ties that bind them all in an interesting fashion. Please understand, if these questions are not answered, we have a problem that is biblical in scale and some people have a lot of explaining to do – Mr. Obama, and not to the Glo-Zelle’s of the world!

Just in the last few days and weeks we watched as terrorists attacked in Paris, then there was a massive hunt by European authorities seeking other terror suspects across the continent and elsewhere, and news that an impending attack was quashed. Soon after, a unity gathering of massive proportions was held and no one of import from our government was sent to attend. Why?

We also found out that a rift had opened between French President Hollande and Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The rift widened because Netanyahu questioned France’s ability to safeguard Jews living in France and Hollande told Netanjahu not to attend.

He did attend however and gave a speech where he told France’s Jews that they would be welcomed back in Israel. The French government “fumed” over it. Has France thrown Israel under the bus as well?

ParisRallySoon after, the White House admitted it erred in not sending a higher ranking official and sent John Kerry to France on the now famous “big hug” tour with James Taylor in tow. Then there was the very awkward clench Kerry initiated and would not break from with Hollande.

Egg on the face was an understatement. But why really did the White House seemingly spurn the importance of the gathering? Would talks with Iran been jeopardized?

We then witnessed the President’s State of the Union address for 2015, and a state visit from British Prime Minister David Cameron and a puzzling joint press conference prior.

Much has been written about how Obama did not address foreign affairs adequately, but in both the SOTU and the Joint Press conference, we saw that Iran was once again being addressed very oddly, why?

Why are Cameron and Obama so in sync over the Iranian talks where deadlines had been postponed twice prior? Here is excerpt of his speech on Iran:

During a pause in his speech, Obama rests after declaring he would veto Republican efforts...
During a pause in his speech, Obama rests after declaring he would veto Republican efforts…

Our diplomacy is at work with respect to Iran, where, for the first time in a decade, we’ve halted the progress of its nuclear program and reduced its stockpile of nuclear material.

Between now and this spring, we have a chance to negotiate a comprehensive agreement that prevents a nuclear-armed Iran; secures America and our allies – including Israel; while avoiding yet another Middle East conflict.

There are no guarantees that negotiations will succeed, and I keep all options on the table to prevent a nuclear Iran.

But new sanctions passed by this Congress, at this moment in time, will all but guarantee that diplomacy fails – alienating America from its allies; and ensuring that Iran starts up its nuclear program again.

It doesn’t make sense. That is why I will veto any new sanctions bill that threatens to undo this progress. The American people expect us to only go to war as a last resort, and I intend to stay true to that wisdom. (Emphasis added.)

Really Mr. President. “It doesn’t make sense?” It is clear to us that you do not make sense.

Since the SOTU, a very big surprise emerged, Speaker of the House John Boehner invited Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress, without prior consultation with the White House.

Of course the response from the White House was immediate and they called his move a breech of protocol. The Obama administration said they would not meet with Netanyahu because it was too close to his election date.

Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad (R) shakes hands with U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in Damascus April 4, 2007. REUTERS/SANA (SYRIA)

Again, the subject here is Iran and the White House is not happy at all despite “plausible” excuses from Josh Earnest.

Even Nancy Pelosi, the then Speaker of the House who flew to talk to Assad in Syria during the Bush Presidency in 2007 is now decrying Boehner’s act as suspect, asking if it was to bolster Netanyahu’s election chances in two weeks? Talking points?

In the joint press conference we also learned that Cameron and many other European leaders were backing Obama on Iran.

Cameron even undertook the extraordinary step of lobbying our Senators on the subject. In that press conference Obama admonished Congress to “hold your fire” on Iran. Again, why? Even some in his own party are questioning his stance.

Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) criticized the Obama administration’s Iran rhetoric for sounding “like talking points that come straight out of Tehran” and supporting “the Iranian narrative of victimization” before a Senate hearing on Wednesday.

Then news came out of Argentina, yes way down there, about a curious case involving international intrigue, and you guessed it, Iran’s involvement. How does Argentina mesh with all these other curiosities? What we know now is that the “Argentine prosecutor who had accused both the president and the Iranians of covering up the country’s worst terrorist attack.”

He had been uncovering clues and facts dating back to the 1994 attack perpetrated on a Jewish center was about to testify that Iran was behind it all. Well, he turned up dead over the weekend and it definitely was not a suicide we now know.

Incidentally, Argentina was negotiating in Aleppo with Iran to circumvent sanctions on them back in the “Oil for Food” program in Iraq days long ago.

Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina Explosion that Iran was behind in 1994
Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina Explosion that Iran was behind in 1994

In the centre of Buenos Aires, a Renault van packed with over 600lbs of explosives was detonated on July 18 in front of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association, or AMIA – Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina.

The building collapsed, killing 85 people and injuring over 300. It was the worst terrorist attack in Argentina‘s history, and a terrible blow to South America’s largest Jewish community. An estimated 300,000 Jewish people live in Argentina – the sixth largest Jewish population in the world.

Alberto Nisman, the prosecutor was initially declared a suicide, but now we know that is not true either. What makes this tie to Iran so interesting is that he uncovered that Iran had been setting a terror network up in South America.

Iran’s tentacles seem box the compass and yet Obama is so determined to allow diplomacy to work its magic, yet Iran has no intention, nor will it negotiate ever in believable terms.

Also curious, just as this was unfolding “Israeli tourists were targeted in an anti-Semitic attack at an Argentina hostel” where a four-hour standoff resulted in injuries to police as well.

Now we come back to Boehner’s invitation, it seems the White House has already stated it will not meet with Netanjahu before or after his speech to the joint session of Congress. Why? Maybe Tony Blinken’s testimony Wednesday is more telling than is being reported:

A senior official in the State Department admitted on Wednesday that the Obama administration’s goal during negotiations with Iran is delaying the regime’s development of nuclear weapons rather than shutting down the Islamic Republic’s contested nuclear program.

Tony Blinken with Obama
Tony Blinken with Obama

Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken acknowledged during a tense exchange with senators on Capitol Hill a deal being sought by the Obama administration that would constrain its nuclear breakout capability without eliminating its nuclear program.

Blinken also floated the possibility of extending nuclear talks past the June deadline should additional time be needed to finalize details of a possible deal with Iran.

We have seen how Obama has spurned Netanjahu on several occasions, and watched John Kerry place heavy pressure on Israel in affairs concerning peace efforts with the Palestinians with clear disregard for Israel’s security. Of course Kerry’s efforts failed miserably, but why so much pressure on Israel.

Then we learned yesterday that the Israelis have discovered a new missile silo with intercontinental capability near the capital Tehran. But neither Obama nor Kerry will meet with him before the March elections and on the day of his speech scheduled for March 3rd.

But Obama will meet with the YouTube queen; “Glo-Zelle?”obama-glozell

In Obama’s SOTU he talked about an Iran that had ceased in its efforts to enrich nuclear fuel, but that too was not true.

The UN’s IAEA slammed Iran in the recent past and had indicated that Iran’s actions could not be validated and most experts know that Obama was out-of-touch with reality on the subject like he was on the status of actions against the Islamic State. Again, why?

Why is Obama and many in Europe so interested in slamming Israel and coddling Iran? Why is Iran so favored by Obama, maybe not in his words, but surely in his actions? We harken back to Obama’s “red line” in Syria, did he back down then because of his explainable favoritism for Iran?

Now that Sana’a, Yemen has fallen to Houthi Shiites supported by Iran, and Iran now controls at least four Middle East capitals; Damascus, Tehran, Sana’a, Baghdad, and arguably Beirut, Obama is detached, and/or showing that he is intentionally inept.

Incidentally, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki showed how woefully they were informed by a journalist yesterday in her briefing.

We also just learned that Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has died, opening yet another question of great import, in which direction will the new king, his half-brother Salman will take our relationship. It has been a tepid relationship to say the least in their attempt to “kill American oil” and the way Obama has handled Syria.

New ICBM silo near Tehran
New ICBM silo near Tehran

While Iran is so clearly unworthy of joining the “community of nations” as a trusted equal, why is Obama so dead set on making them so, especially at Israel’s peril.

Maybe John Boehner has been waiting for just the right moment to expose the answer to some of these questions.

When Obama so clearly tells a story that misleads the American people, we are glad at SUA that Boehner invited Netanyahu to tell the real story, here, in a manner the White House can only try to “spin” away.

The excuse of the “proximity” to the Israeli elections is clear to critical thinkers, he has always hated Netanyahu and wants him to lose so his goals with Iran can be achieved.

Remember also, Russia just signed a pact with Iran on military cooperation, is Obama once again “bowing” to Putin as well? After all, Iran has been cultivating South America for years, all in line with Russia’s goals.

To top it off and bring us back to our original question ponder this – in December of 2010, our presumptive next Attorney General was instrumental in gaining the conviction of the cell that planned to blow up JFK airport in New York. In that trial it was clear, Iran and its network in South America were up to their eyeballs in the plot:

At trial, Kadir, a former member of the Guyanese parliament, admitted that he regularly passed information to Iranian authorities about sensitive topics, including the Guyanese military, and believed himself bound to follow fatwas from Iranian religious leaders.

On June 2, 2007, Kadir was arrested in Trinidad aboard a plane headed to Venezuela, en route to Iran. He was subsequently extradited to the United States. (Also, read more here.)

Let us also not forget the foiled 2011 plot to kill a Saudi Arabian in DC. No threat to America Geraldo? What next, Palestinian and Iranian wings at the soon to come Obama Library in Chicago?

Obama Vs. Reality – State of the Union 2015

Editor’s Note – With yet another diminished number of people watching Obama’s 2015 State of the Union Address (SOTU), Obama rambled on for more than an hour and never once mentioned al Qaida. Like his term “violent extremists,” he just cannot say the words “militant Islam” or similar phrases because he sees the world as he wants it to be, not what it is in reality.

During a pause in his speech, Obama rests after declaring he would veto Republican efforts...
During a pause in his speech, Obama rests after declaring he would veto Republican efforts…

The Wall Street Journal seemed to sum it up well but Newt Gingrich drove the point home in his article at NewsMax.

The “leader of the free world’ exists now only in his mind. Unfortunately, the rest of the world rolls its eyes at his words and we here in America are simply embarrassed once again.

He claims credit where it is not due, ignores his own words from the past, and doubles down at every juncture.

As many in the media touted his boldness and grandiose rhetoric and style, what he said last night was just the “sam ole, same ole” and it was quite difficult to listen to with out doing multiple ‘face palms’ and ‘head on desk’ moments.

Here is an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal, and followed by Newt Gingrich’s summary:

President Barack Obama said Tuesday that his approach to foreign policy was “making a difference,” wading into new rounds of disputes with lawmakers by saying his strategy has paid dividends while countering the advances of extremists in Iraq and Syria.

Mr. Obama’s optimism in his State of the Union Speech comes against a surge of violence and unrest in the Middle East, including an apparent coup attempt in Yemen on Tuesday and renewed fears of foreign fighters returning to Western countries following terrorist killings in Paris earlier this month.

But the president said the techniques advanced by his administration against the Islamic State militant group, also known as ISIL and ISIS, were an improvement over the “costly lessons” of the previous decade-and-a-half.

“Instead of getting dragged into another ground war in the Middle East, we are leading a broad coalition, including Arab nations, to degrade and ultimately destroy this terrorist group,” he said. (Read the rest here.)

Amazingly, while he spoke, the government in Yemen, a country he used as an example of his successes in the recent past was under attack. In addition, a Russian signal intel ship was in Havana Harbor, and Israel had just launched a serious attack in the Golan to take out Hezbollah missile batteries. Out of touch is an extreme understatement.pinocchio_4

During the speech, many other other interesting statements were made that belie reality as well, like climate change being our biggest problem as a nation. He also chided the Republicans and said:

We can’t slow down businesses or put our economy at risk with government shutdowns or fiscal showdowns. We can’t put the security of families at risk by taking away their health insurance, or unraveling the new rules on Wall Street, or refighting past battles on immigration when we’ve got a system to fix. And if a bill comes to my desk that tries to do any of these things, it will earn my veto. (Read the full text of the speech here.)

Really Mr. President? Reality check – it was ObamaCare that took coverage away from millions of Americans when it was rolled out and Jonathan Gruber told us we were stupid, basically for believing the “Liar of the Year.” Fantasyland! It really is worth reading it all and then fact-checking.

Then there is the Islamic State – the caliphate is here but apparently Obama has not read history, nor his daily briefings, again.

Even his own sycophants in the media could not believe their ears:

Newt Gingrich: Obama Abandons the Real World

By Newt Gingrich – NewsMax

The media broadly praised President Obama’s sixth State of the Union address last night as a “confident” and “ambitious” speech. But even his traditional allies in the press could not ignore the fact that it was a confident speech completely disconnected from the real world.

Here is NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, the network’s senior foreign policy correspondent, on last night’s speech: “I think that on foreign policy, his projection of success against terrorism and against ISIS, in particular, as I said, is not close to reality.”

Reserve Lt. Col. and Senator from Iowa delivered the Republican response in style reminding America that the Republicans were just elected to fight Obama's initiatives and failures.
20 Year reserve Lt. Col. and Senator from Iowa, Joanie Ernst delivered the Republican response in style reminding America that the Republicans were just elected to fight Obama’s initiatives and failures.

Chris Matthews, the adoring Obama supporter who once said Mr. Obama’s charisma made him feel “this thrill going up my leg,” commented after last night’s speech, “I keep thinking tonight that there is a world out there that he didn’t really talk about.” That’s putting it gently.

Richard Engel, NBC’s chief foreign correspondent, delivered the most devastating analysis of the President’s claims:

“It seems that the rose-colored glasses through which [President Obama] was viewing the foreign policy were so rose-colored that they don’t even reflect the world that we’re living in … ISIS is doing very well, and the strategy is completely disjointed … To sell that as a success, I think was missing the point, maybe even disingenuous.”

Engel elaborated:

“It sounded like the President was outlining a world that he wishes we were all living in but is very different from the world [described in the news], with terror raids taking place across Europe, with ISIS very much on the move. One thing the President said was that ‘American leadership, including our military power, is stopping ISIL’s advance.’ That just isn’t the case…”

“He talked about building support for the moderate Syrian opposition. That effectively isn’t happening. There is no real support for the moderate Syrian opposition. In fact, one military official told me that they are calling the moderate Syrian opposition the ‘unicorn’ because they have not been able to find it.

So there was a general tone, maybe even suspended disbelief, I think when he started talking about foreign policy. There’s not a lot of success stories to be talking about in foreign policy right now.”

Even senior members of the President’s own party have been unable to stomach some of the President’s claims. Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, this morning described the President’s quotes on Iran as “sound[ing] like talking points that come straight out of Tehran.”

What was striking about President Obama’s speech was his inability to describe radical Islamism as a movement.

He continues to focus on geography instead of ideology. He refers only to “violent extremism.”

He continues to bounce from terror group to terror group as though they’re distinct threats. The current conversation is about ISIL (or ISIS) in Northern Syria and Iraq.

The President failed to mention Boko Haram, however, which last year killed more people in Nigeria (10,000) than Ebola did in all of Africa (8,000). To her credit, Senator Joni Ernst, in a very short reaction speech, did mention Nigeria as a trouble spot.

Ironically, the front pages of today’s newspapers report the State of the Union on one side and the battle in the capital of Yemen on the other side. Yemen is a country President Obama had cited as a model of how we are making progress against “violent extremists.”

Today the Yemeni president “cannot leave his house,” according to the Associated Press, because Islamist rebels are holding him “captive” in his home. The country got no mention last night.

The state of the union, on national security matters at least, is a disaster. A president who tries to hide from the threats we face — or worse, to construct his own world in which they don’t exist — is making the planet a much more dangerous place. One with “confidence” disconnected from reality isn’t showing leadership. He’s showing pure foolishness.

Jihad in America – Cells Already Here, Training Camps

By Denise Simon and Scott W. Winchell

With the surge of terror across the globe and here at home, especially after the Paris “Charlie Hebdos” attack and the kosher market massacre, everyone keeps asking, are they coming or are they already here?

They are here!

In fact, just today an Ohio man, Christopher Lee Cornell (Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah) was arrested by the FBI and was reportedly influenced by the same man who influenced the Kouachi brothers, Anwar al Awlaki and that Cornell also may have known the brothers from online networks:

The FBI has arrested an Ohio man for allegedly plotting an ISIS-inspired attack on the U.S. Capitol, where he hoped to set off a series of bombs aimed at lawmakers, whom he allegedly considered enemies.

Christopher Lee Cornell -– also known as Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah -– was arrested earlier today on charges of attempting to kill a U.S. government official.

Further investigation revealed his intent to attack the U.S. Capitol, and he planned to detonate pipe bombs there and open fire on any employees and officials after the bombs went off, according to government documents.

The FBI and Department of Homeland security issued a bulletin to law enforcement agencies across the country, notifying them of the case.

“The alleged activities of Cornell highlight the continued interest of US-based violent extremists to support designated foreign terrorist organizations overseas, such as ISIL, by committing terrorist acts in the United States,” the bulletin read. “Terrorist group members and supporters will almost certainly continue to use social media platforms to disseminate English language violent extremist messages.”

See the release at Heavy.com and other documents.

Just this past week, even Diane Feinstein, D-CA, the former Chairwoman, and now the Ranking Member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence said they are. She should know, and and so should the White House. Here is what she said:

“I think there are sleeper cells not only in France but certainly in other countries and, yes, in our own,” she told CNN. “This calls for vigilance. … Hopefully, we can be more active in terms of doing those things which enable us to find terrorists, see who they’re communicating with and to track that.”

With the Caliphate now formed in the Levant, better known as the Islamic State (Also ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) the spread of the threat has expanded and it appears the cell in Paris had roots to Yemen and Syria. In fact, AQAP release a new video today claiming responsibility and that it was years in the making the same day the newest edition of “Charlie Hebdos” hit the news stands. (Sheikh Nasr Ben Ali al-Aanesi spoke on the video.)

The lure appears to be working well for the master marketing team of al Qaeda and Daesh and the latest word of warning has been sent by officials that more cells may have been activated. We may not immediately because patience has been one of their calling cards but it appears likely that it will be sooner than later here.

With the Fort Hood Massacre, the Oklahoma Beheading, the Attacks in Canada, the Hatchet Attack in New York, and now the convert in Ohio, we are in a new era and we all had better keep alert.

But we ask, what has been done to secure us to date, especially since we have known about them for years and years right here at home besides this Ohio Muslim convert?

Many cases and studies have been done by those who were aware long ago of the rise of sleeper cells and training camps.

The FBI introduction to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) file on Clarence Smith—aka Clarence 13X—reads only, “Smith was the leader of the ‘Five Percenters,’ a notorious Harlem street gang. He was shot to death in 1969” [1].

Yet, as a lyrical sample from Lord Jamar (a prominent Five Percenter and hip-hop artist) reads in his Greatest Story Never Told, “Allah [Clarence Smith] was assassinated in 1969, that case was never solved. His movement survived him, today it’s known as the Nation of Gods and Earths” [2].

The Five Percenters are just one facet of indigenous Muslim evolution in the United States; others, like Jama`at al-Fuqara’, retain ties to Pakistan and are ideological affiliates of militant Salafist groups such as al-Qa`ida.

This article will examine trends among three predominantly African-American Islamic movements, at least one of which should be considered a domestic terrorism concern for the United States. It also serves to provide counter-terrorism professionals with knowledge enabling them to differentiate terrorist threats from more benign religious groups.

Heffelfinger  illustrates further where some of these groups are and the threat they have “today,” as in 2008, so imagine how much worse it is today:

Critical for intelligence and law enforcement officials is the ability to distinguish non-violent, pietistic or spiritualist movements from Salafist-inspired ones that advocate or practice militancy. Today, the Five Percent Nation is largely leaderless, with various teachers propagating the beliefs of Clarence 13X and poses no serious terrorist threat, although gang activity and criminality is a concern.Islamberg-NY-sign

The Seas of David will, in all likelihood, dissipate and pose no further threat. Such movements, however, may serve at times as a gateway to more conservative—sometimes militant—Salafist groups, such as Jama`at al-Fuqara’.

The Jama`at al-Fuqara’/Muslims of America deserves a more comprehensive treatment, as the group is clearly one of the most glaring domestic terrorism concerns for the United States.(Read more here, it is extensive and worth the read. Our emphasis added.)

Heffelfinger was not the only one by a long shot. As late as 2012 an article in Law Enforcement Today entitled “Informant: Islamic Compounds in America are Training for Jihad” was posted by Martin Mawyer. His introduction speaks volumes:

In Hancock, NY an Islamic community that sits on 80 acres of land has decided to form its own government.  They call their community: The Town of Islamberg.  They have their own mayor, deputy mayor and five town council members.  None of them are elected, of course.

They even boast that their “town” provides departments of education, medical, finance and land development services.

This Islamic compound has truly become a city-state.  Though not recognized as a legitimate township by the City of Hancock, this Islamic community nevertheless enforces its own laws on the “citizens” within its borders.  They do so by using the iron fist of Sharia law.

I interviewed a member of this camp, which sits deep in the Catskills Mountains of upstate New York.  The Islamic group that has established this camp is part a network known as Muslims of the Americas (MOA), which has documented links to Al Qaeda.

MOA has established similar villages in nearly three-dozen locations nationwide, with other prominent camps found in Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, California and Tennessee. (Read more here.)

Remember, that interview took place in 2012, where are we today in 2015? Even further back in 2007, another article came out entitled “Red House, Va has radical Islamic terrorist training camp” and you can read the commentary with charges and denials by many including Muslims in Virginia. Read more from Eric Stackleback from 2012 on this case and view his interview.

Many of these reports have been published many times, where is the FBI and the White House? In 2012, World Net Daily posted an article entitled “35 Training Camps Now Operating Inside U.S. – Government does nothing to impede expansion of ‘Soldiers of Allah’ network.”

This is not new, but fortunately of late, many more people are discovering the work done over the years.

In the period between 2006 and now, Stand Up America staff has been part of some of these investigations and financing some of the work investigators performed on others like Adnan al Shukrijumah who was operating in Hamilton, Ontario, and who was just recently killed by Pakistani officials.

Ryan Mauro at the Clarion Project and Brigitte Gabriel’s group Act For America have also done extensive work on exposing the many enclaves, training camps and sights of older crimes that may be related to terror.

A Clarion Project investigation has discovered a jihadist enclave in Texas where a deadly shooting took place in 2002. Declassified FBI documents obtained by Clarion confirm the find and show the U.S. government’s concern about its links to terrorism. The investigation was completed with help from ACT! For America Houston.

The enclave belongs to the network of Muslims of the Americas, a radical group linked to a Pakistani militant group called Jamaat ul-Fuqra. Its members are devoted followers of Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, an extremist cleric in Pakistan.

Be alert America, “see something, say something” applies at all times.
