MG Vallely interview: Obama Planning October Surprise

President Barack Obama is planning a classic “October Surprise” involving the Mideast and designed to boost his re-election chances, retired General Paul Vallely tells Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview.

Vallely, who served in the Vietnam War and retired in 1992 as deputy commanding general, Pacific Command, said he has been tracking reports for some time of an October Surprise. The term is generally associated with the Carter-Reagan 1980 election where the Reagan campaign feared the Carter administration would somehow manage to free the hostages in Iran and pull off a re-election bid.
“The action that we do need to realize though and as I’ve pointed out before is that we know the Obama administration is grooming and getting prepared for an October Surprise which we think will be of a military nature probably in the Middle East or it could be another option of a massive withdrawal out of Afghanistan to make Obama and his administration look strong in light of being perceived not only here but overseas as very weak,” he said.
Vallely added that there “are reports that we’ve been tracking.”
“I also heard it when I was on the Syrian border and in Turkey that they had gotten word over there that the Obama administration was going to plan something so I got it from more the Middle East area as well as some of our intelligence analysts here in the U.S. that there are plans being made for some kind of a surprise that would be launched in October,” he said. “And it could be support of Israel or it could be something it regards to supporting the Syrian opposition in Syria. We just don’t know at this but certainly when I find out I will make sure that the news knows about it.”
Vallely, co-author of the book End Game: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror, said that the U.S. actions deploying ships toward Libya after the attacks in Benghazi left four dead including Ambassador Chris Stevens are part of contingency plans to reinforce embassies.
“What is not good is the weak response from the U.S., from the presidential level that is indicating that we’re not going to take this anymore and we can’t apologize to these people and continue to appease them,” he said. “So, I would look if I were president of some direct action if there is any more operations of an attack against the embassy or any embassy or consulates in those countries.
“We also need to send a strong signal that we’re going to stop all foreign aid over there until they get on track and cooperate and quell these riots against the U.S. American interest. They have the responsibility for outside the gate.”
Vallely said he did not know if the protests in Libya and now Yemen are a sign the Arab Spring has withered.
“I don’t know whether it’s failed, it continues to be a cauldron over there,” he said. “I think the other areas to keep constant watch on will be Syria and the fall of Assad. I think then you’re gonna look at Hezbollah in Lebanon as another area that is of concern to all the Middle East.
“But when you look at the chess board you’ve got Turkey and Saudi Arabia supporting this Syrian opposition, you’ve got Russia still supporting Iran and China to some degree so you’ve got a lot of infighting over there, you’ve got two powers Turkey and Iran trying to forge themselves into the future and be the hegemonic power there so this is where we have to be smart and look and see exactly what interest there are of interest to the United States or threats to the United States. That has to come first so we need a good strategy, we need strong leadership, and of course I use the workman proxy forces and that’s how I get my information and it’s not through U.S. intelligence agencies it’s through the proxies over in those different countries.”
Vallely also rejected the idea that the attacks on the embassy were terrorism.
“It’s not terrorism,” he said, “these are direct military assaults that are planned with sophisticated weapons, and missiles, RPGs that have been provided by some of the opposition or government forces there and of course in Libya you’ve got diversification of Islamist factions over there not only fighting each other and they don’t have a government that’s in control.
“So, when you look at that situation, this is not terrorism this is actually military assaults by armed groups and also sponsored in a great part by other countries over there namely on of them is Iran.”

If Obama green lights the Israeli wish to interrupt the nuclear program in Iran I hope they have the good senses to be patient until 11-7.
General. I respect your thoughts on the upcoming election, BUT I don’t think many persons understand or see the huge gorilla in the middle of the living room. PETRODOLLARS. When you study this “gorilla” you will understand that Iran needs to be severely punished. I am not saying I favor the Petrodollar policy, but it has been in effect since President Nixon, and all Presidents since him have so “screwed up” our economy using this flawed policy that it is too late to make a change without destroying the entire American economy. Iran wants all oil purchases, world wide, to be paid in gold instead of the U.S. dollar. President Nixon had made an agreement with Saudi Arabia that in return for U.S. protection of that country and its ruling family, all oil purchases, world wide would be in U.S. dollars only. A change from this policy will destroy our economy in one day, and make the Depression of 1929 look like a birthday party, because we probably have no gold. So now it should be understood that there is a twofold reason to see that Iran is “taken down”. And should Iran be “taken down”, I am not in favor of another “boots on the ground and occupy”……… as this has never worked and will never work. When you corner a rat you give him room to make an escape. If you press he too tightly he will fight to the death, and nobody knows the outcome of a fight to the death. It is none of our business what type of society or government Iran, or any other country on this planes works under. It is the duty of the U.S. government to protect the safety and interests of Americans citizens. No more and no less. The occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan was, and currently is, the usual mistake by politicians who know nothing except getting votes from “couch potato’s”. It is time to stop with the destroy and rebuild policy we have used since World War ll. It is time to implement the “hit them hard and back off” policy. When one is in a fight to win, one doesn’t attack points of strength, one attacks at points of weakness. Points of strength are ready for a fight. Points of weakness can’t cope with a “hammering”, and will cause a “divide”, much like what happened during the Vietnam “war”. Civilians are the majority of a nations population. They fuel the “war machines”. As long as causalities are borne by the military, the civilians are in favor of a continued fight. But “hammer” the civilians, and they can’t cope……. and will want to negotiate a peace. That is why it is best to not put “boots on the ground”. Divide and Conquer.
Now this brings us to November 6, and Mitt Romney. The past few days have shown Romney to be exactly as I have said: “Sissy Boy”. He makes a true statement about 47% of the voters being “Die Hard” Obama voters because of the government handouts……….and he backs up rather than defending the truth. Truth is what is lacking in America today. Who is Obama? Why will he not let anyone view his birth certificate in the vault in Hawaii to verify that it is the same as the one he had posted on the Internet? What were his college grades? How did he fund his Harvard experience? Why did he pretend to be from Kenya? Why did he write non fiction books with composite women as “girlfriends”? But the bigger question is: Why has Romney not demanded the answers to all these questions? Why would Romney even begin to engage in a debate with someone with whom some many questions are unanswered? Well I am going to give Romney one more chance to prove that he is either a man or a mouse. I will go to a rally where he is speaking and I will throw a piece of cheese on the ground and watch what he does.

The Obama grades and birth certificate stuff as karl Rove says is silly..no other president or candidate is asked about his grades or place of birth.Wonder why the DEMS dominate the college grad crowd in voting.It only fuels the uneducated nut jobs and Romney knows to stay away from that garbage..it is silly…although he made a birther crack in Michigan and the next day he dropped big in 3 swing states.(poll #’s).The big suprise is going to be Mitts 4 deferments from vietnam.This has been reported last spring and yes Cheney..Clinton..Bush all had them,but what makes Romneys case so bad is Romney is on film and quoted in print media protesting for..yes for the war…and other mormons went to vietnam..Mitt has tried to say before that all mormons got deferments for missions..NOT TRUE..Mormons did go to Vietnam by being drafted.Mitts dad had great power and political wealth.I have seen the clips ..go to youtube..this is worse than the tax return issue.He is not going to win anyway,but to protest for a war you know you had no chance to go to is awful of him.(Think Cheney,Bush and Clintons cases were bad..but this just puts the nail on what people already thinks of Mitt-very cold non popular guy)This has been out for a while,but think about this…isn”t it odd the way it just went away.This is the one the Obama camp I feel thinks will put Mitt away for good (show what many think of his character) and they put it in their back pocket..getting selective service records are easy to obtain..I Do not think the Dems have to do this..Romney may already be done
